St. Benedict High School is a community of faith that offers students the opportunity to develop a strong, individual faith life grounded in the academic knowledge of the Catholic Faith. There are many opportunities for students to develop spiritually as individuals and to involve themselves in the spiritual life of the school. Spiritual service to the community also includes Student Retreat Leaders planning and leading class retreats, helping with retreats in parochial schools, and assisting as leaders in the Diocesan QUEST and SEARCH programs.
Community service is evident in St. Benedict students having participated in the Make-A-Wish programs, LifeBlood, and our annual food drive for the Mid South Food Bank and Catholic Charities of West Tennessee. SBA also supports an active Teens for Life club and has participated in the March for Life in Washington, DC, for over 25 years. In addition, students at every grade level take part in a variety of service projects including clothing drives, providing Christmas gifts and food for families, preparing and sending care packages to armed forces and assisting at homes for the elderly, and many more.
SBA has twice received the Charity and Service Award from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in DC. This is a prestigious honor presented to Catholic organizations on the national level. To learn more about service as a part of Student Life at SBA, visit our SBA Service Handbook.
