Born and raised in Memphis, TN. John comes from a big family. He has six siblings-Greg, Alex (SBA), Natalie (SBA), Heather, Adam, and Amaranthus. He is the son of Lisa and John and stepson to Pat. John is married to Courtney and has three children Jack, Reid, and Mary Elizabeth.
John is a proud product of Catholic, Diocesan education. Dr. Hyden John attended St. Anne Catholic School on Highland Ave prior to his time as an Eagle at St. Benedict. A 1993 graduate of SBA. John was an exemplary student, scholar-athlete. During his time at SBA, he was:

After SBA, John attended the Univ. Of Memphis where he earned his bachelor's and master's degree in Business. After the U of M, John went on to pursue medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center- where he received his MD in 2005. John then went on to Wake Forest University for his Residency in Family Medicine. John then completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Boston University.
John is currently a sports medicine physician with Campbell Clinic Orthopedics here in Memphis. He is one of the team physicians for our local high school, college, and professional teams. The Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis Redbirds, Memphis Hustle, Memphis 901FC, University of Memphis, Christian Brothers University, Rhodes College, St. Benedict at Auburndale
John is also the Fellowship Director- Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship UTHSC, the Medical Director- St. Jude Memphis Marathon and a Member of Dean's Advisory Board for College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Memphis 2016- present"
Dr. Hyden has served as the SBA team doctor for several years and on our Advisory Board. The hours he has given to our students in addition to serving as a physician, husband and father are tremendous. His love of SBA is apparent in each interaction he has with anyone. We are blessed to have Dr. John Hyden as an alum of SBA. He leads by example and is a model for young people.
