The mission of the SBA Counseling Department is to provide high-quality, comprehensive school counseling services to all students. Our programs are designed to help all students develop and enhance their academic, social, career, and personal strengths to become responsible and productive citizens. SBA Counselors help students:
Discover and maintain organizational strategies and study habits
Cope with personal, social, and emotional issues
Navigate the college application process
Explore post-secondary and career options
Our counselors work closely with the administration, faculty, and parents to help fully develop each student’s potential. Parents are encouraged to notify counselors of any experiences or situations that may affect their student’s behavior, emotional health, or academic progress.
Navigating eight classes in high school is tough! No two schedules are alike, and no two students are alike. Helping students find a system that works for them is essential to success. Our counselors and teachers are here to help students in all their academic endeavors — study habits, time management, and organization. Feeling confident, prepared, and on top of their work propels students upward and onward in their high school journey.
We encourage students to ask for assistance from counselors, faculty, and staff. We are here to help! Our counselors speak with students in their Theology classes and one-on-one to help them develop soft skills that allow them to persevere through life's obstacles, including overcoming fear, anxiety, and being "stuck." We also work closely with local counseling services to provide referrals as needed.
SBA counselors are also here to aid during difficult times for students. Emotional crises, relationship problems, mental health, suicide-prevention issues, and tragedies inside and outside school. Our counselors can work directly with students but also guide them and provide several resources to work with specific problems and issues.
